A BATD may be used in conjuction with an authorized flight instructor to log Dual Instruction time as described in FAA Advisory Circular 61-136B. The club’s BATD allows multiple complex training scenarios to be simulated in the same session. The flight recording function allows your lessons to be quickly debriefed with an instructor.
Training time obtained in a BATD can be credited towards certificates, ratings, and currency, up to the limits listed below.
Private Pilot | Up to 2.5 hrs of training in a BATD with an authorized flight instructor can be credited towards your private pilot certificate. FAR 61.109(k)(1) |
Instrument Rating | Up to 10 hours of training in a BATD can be credited towards your instrument rating. FAR 61.65(i) |
Instrument Currency | BATDs meet the requirements to act as PIC under IFR or less than VFR minimums. FAR 61.57(c) |
